INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this website is to add to the public discussion about the Firearms Freedom Acts (FFA) that have passed and/or have been proposed in various states.

Attorney Evan F. Nappen has practiced in the area of Firearm Law for over 20 years and he has written two articles on the subject.

These articles have caused controversy in the gun rights community because they point out legal flaws with the FFA concept. "How dare someone criticize such a hard core pro-gun effort?"  Well the problem is that good people can be hurt if they rely on a legally flawed FFA.  For example, if a well intentioned honest citizen builds a silencer in reliance on a legally flawed FFA, that citizen will face 10 years in federal prison for failing to abide by the National Firearms Act, notwithstanding the vigorus assertions by the promoters of the FFA concept.

The NRA has stated "
Firearms Freedom Act “ supporters have never planned to test these laws in criminal cases, and no one who puts himself in that situation should expect support from the NRA.” (See http://www.examiner.com/x-1417-Gun-Rights-Examiner~y2009m12d9-NRA-to-Firearms-Freedom-Act-supporters-Youre-on-your-own.)

The risks and unlikelyhood of sucess of the FFA concept must be made known. Despite the efforts of some to try to silence Attorney Nappen, these articles will be posted and the FFA will be discussed.

The first article by Attorney Nappen was entitled:
"THE ACHILLES HEELS OF THE MONTANA AND TENNESEE FIREARMS FREEDOM ACTS"

This article was attacked by Gary Marbut with an article entitled:
"HOLD THE FORT - DON'T SURRENDER SO QUICKLY"

Attorney Nappen has replied to Gary Marbut with an article  entitled:
"DON'T ATTACK A WELL FORTIFIED POSITION WITH
AN INFERIOR FORCE"

Both articles by Attorney Nappen are posted here at this website. A link to Gary Marbut's article may be found on the "LINKS" page of this website.
